So have you all recovered from UK theatre’s biggest night of the year? Although I always moan about the fact we only get a late-night highlights show in the UK, I still watch the Olivier Awards with so much excitement. Anything that puts a spotlight on our wonderful theatrical industry on a huge platform is a positive, and it was fantastic to see performances from new musicals and old favourites alike. I was thrilled to see my absolute favourite show of the last two years The Curious Case of Benjamin Button sweep up three gongs including Best New Musical and Outstanding Musical Contribution (the music is 100% the highlight of an all-round brilliant show).
I had my predictions and hopes of course, but I like to focus on something a little different in the run up to the UK’s most prestigious theatre awards. In true Bums on Seats style, it’s discount related! Check out my TikTok and Instagram for an in-depth look at the nominees and how you can see them for as cheap as possible.
This is hopefully a start to more social content from me. After a (quite frankly) tough and incredibly busy couple of years for me, I really want to get back to giving Bums on Seats the full attention it deserves. So if you want to see more from me on social media, give us a like and a follow and look out for some stuff! I’m always open to content ideas so get in touch if there’s cheap theatre tips you want to see…
Happy ticket-buying!

Chris Stafford joins the Royal Exchange Theatre as interim executive director and co-CEO
I’m kind of a big deal
Want to see the incredible Beverley Knight for just £15? Thought so! The new UK premiere of Marie & Rosetta opens in Kingston in May and I’ve spotted this fantastic deal for midweek performances.
Most of the seats are reduced to just £15 on Tue-Thu performances during its run at the Rose Theatre. There are even seats in the front stalls available, but it isn’t the biggest theatre and most seats offer a decent view. If you want comfort though, definitely go for the stalls, as the circle has flip down benches which may not be ideal for some!
Hey big spender
Here’s your discounts, offers and cheap seats this week.
🚨 Free theatre klaxon! Here’s one of my favourite free theatre tips of the entire year. Every April the V&A hosts their Performance Festival! There’s loads of great stuff going on, including events, talks and tours. But best of all you can see screenings of amazing productions for free thanks to the National Video Archive of Performance. This year’s shows include the West End runs of Waiting for Godot and Constellations.
🏃 New rush alert! You can now get £25 rush tickets for The Brightening Air on the TodayTix app.
There’s £10 tickets for Teatro La Plaza’s Hamlet at the Barbican later this month. Use code HAMLET10 - some fantastic seats included in this one.
Get £13 tickets for Hold onto Your Butts today and tomorrow at the Arts Theatre.
There’s £15 tickets for Apex Predator at the Hampstead Theatre.
Don’t forget these £15 seats for Haymarket shows - The Score and The Deep Blue Sea. Remember to stick to the aisle in the upper circle for the best view.
There’s lots of pretty good £15/£20 seats for Retrograde this week.
There’s some nice front stalls seats at £25 for The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in Southend next week.
There’s also some decent circle seats at £25 for Tina in the West End.
Get £25 tickets for Stranger Things: The First Shadow.
Get best seats for £29.50 for Cruel Intentions in Bath (but only £20 if you’re booking the Friday 5pm show!) Use code CRUELTRB, valid Wed-Fri only.
